Y2 Trip to the Church
Thu 05 Feb 2026This morning, Year 2 enjoyed a trip to our local village church as part of our R.E. curriculum learning about special places. Rector Johnny very kindly showed us around and talked to us about all of the different things we can find inside it and what the different things are used for. We learned about the font, organ, pulpit, sanctuary, altar, lecturn and stained glass window to name a few! The children were all Exceptional Explorers and showed great curiosity, asking lots of great questions.

Jim Beckett - visiting author
Tue 03 Feb 2026Mrs Mellor kindly arranged for Jim Beckett, children's author, to come in and introduce his "Buzz, Sausage, Wolf" books and their characters to the children. The series is essentially about a silly sausage dog who's determined to be the perfect pet and win the love of his new family. Not just an engaging story, Buzz Sausage Wolf is packed with relatable child-centric emotional learnings e.g. being yourself, asking for help, accepting our differences, learning to share - all with a huge dollop of animal silliness and heart. He even brought along a cheeky monkey and a ukele! Thank you for pre-ordering signed copies of the books, these will also still be available to order via a link which will be sent out this week.
A huge thank you to Chorleywood Bookshop, which provides the opportunity to book these fantastic author events and to Mrs Mellor for securing such a fabulous treat for the children

Thu 22 Jan 2026On Thursday 22nd January we celebrated World Religion Day. We had some visitors to come in to talk to the children about some of the World's different faiths:
Christian Faith
Hindu Faith
Jewish Faith
Buddhist Faith
As well as very interesting talks and presentations, The children got the opportunity to taste Challah bread, matzah crackers from the Jewish faith and Maamoul, which is typical in Islamic cultures.
It was a lovely day, learning about the different religions and we would like to extend our appreciation to our visitors and parents who came in to enlighten us about their faith.
